Columbia University School of Nursing (New York City)

The Columbia School of Nursing in New York has an accelerated combined BS/MS program designed to prepare you for a career as a professional Advanced Practice Nurse. Your academic studies will be closely integrated with hands-on clinical experience. This will give you an opportunity to learn nursing theory while you actually participate in the nursing field.

Pre-licensure Nursing
The School of Nursing’s pre-licensure curriculum is designed to help you (as a student) develop basic competence in professional nursing. As you progress through the curriculum you will gain advanced knowledge and build skills that will allow you to choose your nursing specialty. The School of Nursing places great emphasis on clinical education and you will have your first experience with patients (and patience) during your first term. You may work in a number of settings (i.e. clinics, hospitals, community centers, and homes).

Nursing Specialty
As a student you will be able to major in (1) Acute Care; (2) Anesthesia; (3) Midwifery; (4) Neonatal; (5) Oncology; (6) Women's Health; (7) Psychiatric Mental Health; or (8) Adult, Family, Geriatric, or Pediatric Primary Care. Once you graduate from the program you will be able to practice nursing in New York State or any other state. You may choose to become a travel nurse.

You will begin the program in late May/early June (summer semester). So put on your nursing uniform and send in your application today.
